April 15th, 2017: The Finale
By far the most sophisticated nightclub I
have ventured to thus far. Mosaic Ultra Lounge, located in the heart of Kansas
City, at Power & Light District. One of the premier destinations in the downtown area. They have an outdoor balcony that overlooks the entire P&L District.
The cover charge is $20 a person but with special passes they will only charge
$5. The music is provided by local DJs that leave you wanting more. They have a
long list of bottle service but be prepared to spend a pretty penny as none of
the “specials” are cheap. Mosaic is more for a special occasion as opposed to
an every weekend type of deal. If you can experience it at least once, you will
have a night you won’t forget.
April 6, 2017: Skinny's Sports Bar & Grill
April 6, 2017 I found myself at El Mezcal for their dollar margaritas. However, they close at 10 p.m. so Skinny’s Sports Bar & Grill is where I was headed for karaoke night. Skinny’s offers a different type of atmosphere than what I am accustomed to. This crowd is an older generation, but nothing short of a good time. They enjoy having a couple of drinks at a reasonable price, singing songs they grew up to, and shooting some pool. They have over 30 flat-screen televisions so you won’t miss a piece of the action, whatever your favorite sport is. Definitely the bar to get a bang for your buck. Thursday’s Skinny’s offer a variety of beers for $2 a can and well drinks for only $2.50. If you are looking to have a cold beverage and not spend very much money, I highly recommend Skinny’s Sports Bar and Grill.

March 26, 2017: Quinton's Bar & Deli
This week my blog adventures took me to Quinton's Bar & Deli. Now I know what you are thinking; I have already visited this bar. This Quinton's happens to be located in Lawrence, Kansas. The one in Topeka and Lawrence are both owned by the same people. The bar that is located on Massachusetts St. not only has a front bar but also has a patio and upstairs bar. The patio bar just like the outside bar at the Topeka location, it is for those warm nights when it is enjoyable to be outside. The upstairs bar is where they have their dance floor. The two locations share the same menu when it comes to their cuisine. Not to be bias but the Lawrence location has a much better venue.
March 19, 2017: Quinton's Bar & Deli
During this week, I went to one of the local bars in Topeka, Quinton's Bar & Deli. A tinier venue then what I am used to but definitely more suitable for college wages. They have an outside bar that during the warm months which in turn makes up for the dance floor that they lack. Quinton's food during afternoon hours can really hit the spot while you are cheering on your sports team. They are locally owned and have a great feel for the community. Some Thursdays they offer beer pong tournaments and the winner gets $100.
March 12, 2017: Johnny Kaws
The weekend of March 12, 2017 took me to a place called Johnny Kaws. Now this is special because it was in a foreign place. That place happened to be Manhattan, Kansas. It is foreign to me because of my unwavering loyalty to the Jayhawks. Anyways, the reason for my adventure to Wildcat territory, was for the event they throw every year called Fake Patties Day. Typically drink prices are fairly reasonable as they are accustomed to college students. However, on this day they raise them a little bit, because they can and they know people will pay the extra price. Not terribly on the high side but a noticeable increase nonetheless. On this day, you see nothing but green. You see everything from green beer cans to green queso dip. Which I might add is quite disgusting. They have about 4 or 5 different bars located inside so if one is too crowed you can just simply hop over to the next.

My first stop for A Night Out in Kansas, took me to Tonic
Lounge. Located on Massachusetts St. in downtown Lawrence, Kansas. Tonic was
celebrating its 7th birthday. With $7 champagne bottles, $4
margarita bowls, and $1 Tequila shots it was a place where you could have a
good time with friends without breaking the bank. The DJ was playing old school
jams that set the perfect mood. With the cheap drink specials and the right
choice in music, Tonic had the night pretty lit!

Welcome all, to the introduction of A Night Out in Kansas. Here I will be discussing some of the bars and nightclubs that I believe college students can have a good time at and still be able to save some money. Places I plan on visiting are Lawrence, Manhattan and Kansas City. Somethings I will make note of are drink specials, type of music they play, size of attendance, and what each place has to offer. Some of these venues require you to be 21+ so I apologize in advance for those of you who cannot attend. I can't wait to see where this blog takes me and remember, please drink responsibly!
